In the Hut of the (Supposed) Dark Mage

They stay in the hut for more than a week. The boy is friendly and welcomes the girls in (as soon as they lowered their quote, β€˜frightfully large’ weapons) and they settle in.

Murin had tried to ask the boy about the Mage but the boy had only replied, β€œI’m the only one who lives here.”

On the other hand, Emir is also certain this is where the Mage is.

So they settle down in hope that they can find him, if he be hiding.

They stay for a week. Nobody is found.

They stay for another week. Murin becomes friends with the boy.

His name is Cyril and says he’s been living here since he was born, never been outside of the forest. He has a large library and so has deep knowledge of all concerning Mages and such. He had deducted so much on their first talk that Murin is almost suspicious.

β€œYou came from, ah, what’s the name, Illium?”

β€œYes, been there. How’d you know?”

β€œYour clothes look like they’re from Illium and anyone’d know their fantabulous tea.”

β€œOh.”

β€œAre you two part of the Keepers of the Guild of Mages back in Tamaso?”

β€œYes and again, how’d you know?”

β€œWell, I’ve heard that the guild has five powerful people in charge, each person for an element.

*Siorial is obviously of the Water element (since her clothes are blue) and you are from fire.”
β€œHmm.”*

But after just two days, Murin puts down her suspicions and starts chatting with the Mage on all matters, from the pine needles outside which could potentially start a fire to the recent attack of Scralls on Illium.

Cyril understands her impulses, doesn’t judge her or look up to her just because she is a Mage. She is treated equally by Cyril and strangely it feels so good. He understands her as a person with a fiery temper and puts up with her whims. She spends more and more time with him and her guard is completely gone.

Siorial, however, doesn’t put down her skepticism and avoids Cyril.

But Murin trusts Cyril. Her admiration and respect of him throws her head-over-heels.
